Since I've been on the subject of monkeys the last couple of post it reminded me of the monkey cake I decorated for my youngest grandson's first birthday...the same grandson in this post with the monkey hat on. He is definitely our little monkey and this cake fit his personality so well. I just made a round cake and then cupcakes for the ears.

Sock Monkey Coffee Cozy
I was so happy with how the Sock Monkey Hats turned out that I decided to make this Sock Monkey Coffee Cozy when I found this free pattern from Inner Hooker on Ravelry. The only thing I would do different on my next one is to join each of the rounds. This pattern is done in the round so when you change colors they don't line up the way I would like. I didn't think to do that until I had finished the monkey. The other thing I did different was to crochet the smile for his mouth like I did for the monkey hats. It turned out nicer than my stitching one would have. I know this because I did it that way first and then took it out. I also added a second eye only cuz I'm weird like that and wanted to have two. Enjoy! Thanks Inner Hooker. You do lovely work!
Sock Monkey Hat
I made a couple of these monkey hats for a couple young people going through chemo. I hope it brightens their day. The only difference between the two monkeys are their eyes. Not sure which I like better. Liz at crochetincolor so generously shared her pattern for free. It's one of the nicest ones I've seen. Thank you, Liz. I sure appreciate it!
Of course I had to get a picture with my "little monkey" trying the hat on for size before I sent them off.
Another Angry Bird!
Angry bird hat
I have also been making hats for cancer patients. I not only wanted hats that they could sleep in that would be soft and help keep their heads warm but also hats to wear out in public to keep warm so I try to make a wide variety of styles and a wide variety of sizes. That is probably what I've made the most often and what you'll see the most of on this blog. I usually take the hats to our local cancer place but there are other good sites out there if you want to donate there. Of course, sometimes my grandkids spot some they really like so I make one or two for them as well.
I got the pattern for this fun hat from Amy at this site here. She has a lot of cute patterns you might want to check out. Thank you Amy!. My grandson loved it too. I made it for the one in the top photo but all 3 of the boys had to try it on. I also have made a couple of them for cancer patients.

Shoes for Amélie
I love these shoes! I knew I had to have the pattern for them when I saw them. Sylvia does a great job explaining how to crochet these. Check out her Etsy shop for the pattern.
I goofed on one spot but didn't realize it until I was all done but I'm not telling where!

For my granddaughter, Amélie
Okay, so I was going to try to start posting pictures in order of the things I've been crocheting but I figured if I wait to do that I will never get anything posted on this blog. Guess it doesn't really matter when I made them I just need to get them on here with the pattern sources in case anyone is interested. So here goes...my first post...
I don't buy a lot of patterns but Vita at monpetitviolon comes up with the most beautiful patterns and well, sometimes I just can't resist. I have bought several of hers. Check out her etsy shop and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.
