Christmas Decorations

I have to say that I love Pinterest! I found this idea there which came from this site, the House of Noise and loved it! So did my good friend, Phyllis, so I bought the wood and her hubby cut it and sanded it for us and we painted them and then printed different names of Jesus on scrapbook paper. We then cut that to the size of the wood and mod podged it and added wire. I wanted Jesus to be glorified in all my Christmas decorating this year and I pray that I bring glory to His Name in all I do.

Tank Slippers

My friend, Julie's son, had seen tank slippers like these and liked them so his wonderful mom wanted someone to make them for him for Christmas. My friend, Phyllis, found the pattern for Julie and bought the yarn and started to make them. Unfortunately, the pattern was not well written and she had trouble with it and asked me to help. (I actually think her exact words as she shoved the yarn at me were, "Here, you do it!") lol! Anyways, I got most of the parts made but the wheels on the side just did not have much shape doing them the way the directions called for. Phyllis woke up one night with the idea of adding a back on them and then stuffing them like we had other parts of the tank. Voila!!! It worked and they turned out so much nicer. I have to say that this project took more hours than I care to invest in ever making them again. Yes,  I like how they turned out but this was one project I was sooo thrilled to be DONE WITH! Can I tell you just how thrilled I was to be DONE WITH these?!?! lol! I think Phyllis would agree with me!

Thanksgiving Treats

I found these on Pinterest (of course!) and since I'm the one that gets to bring dessert again this year for Thanksgiving I just had to make them. The turkeys can be found at Hungry Happenings and the pilgrim hats are from Woman's Day. I made the pilgrim's hat for my daughter's college graduation but put the Reese's on the bottom and used square chocolate cookies and put them on the top and then used frosting to make tassels. I can't remember where I found the idea for them but they were very easy to put together. I did have some trouble with the turkeys staying together but they turned out cute!

Summery chemo hats

I found these fun cotton, summery hats by Jennifer on Ravelry and just had to make them! They are so cute and such fun colors! I used Sugar n Cream cotton yarn by Lily. I made one for each of my granddaughters and a a couple for our local cancer center. I attached pink braids on the one for my youngest granddaughter so she'd keep it on better but forgot to get a picture after I attached them. This is a picture of her before I added the braids. I thought I had taken a picture of her sister wearing the hat I made her but didn't see it when I went looking to add it here.

The hats below I made for cancer patients. They appear to not be shaped very well but once they are on they are shaped nice as you can see by the picture of my granddaughter wearing hers. The flowers are a little different than the pattern called for. The flower on the orange and pink hat is the same as on Jennifer's pattern but the other flowers I got from Mary Jane Hall's pattern. By the way, I also love the hat pattern that she made with this flower and it's also on my list to make. I guess I need to start a list over to the side of all the patterns I eventually want to crochet so I have them all in the same place.

Chemo Hats

Today I wanted to post some other chemo hats I've made. I have found so many wonderful patterns out there and love crocheting as many different ones as I can.  My goal is to do at least 15 a month which wouldn't be too much of a problem except that I can spend hours just looking at new patterns. I try to make a variety of styles and sizes to fit the different styles and sizes of those with cancer. Both of these hats are from the same pattern just different colors (duh, obviously) and different flowers. I do try to change them up a bit. I had also made the scarf at a different time and just sent them over together since I thought they looked good together. These two hats are very simple to make and are done in double crochet mostly. I found the free pattern from Addicted to Alpaca's blog. She came up with the pattern to make a hat for Halos of Hope and was so nice to share her pattern with everyone. I used Caron's Spa soft bamboo blend yarn and it made such a nice soft, comfortable hat and scarf. I love the feel of it!

The flower for this hat came from Brittany at Crafty Woman Creations. I found her free pattern here on Ravelry.Thank you Brittany. The beautiful scarf was designed by Carrie Carpenter. You can find her pattern here.

The rose on the blue hat was designed by Heidi at heidibearscreative.blogspot.com. She used a divine sock yarn and size 2mm crochet hook. I used the same Caron bamboo yarn as the trim on the hat and a size G hook and think it still turned out good.

I will try to get more hat patterns posted in the next few days. Enjoy! God bless!

More Monkey Business

Since I've been on the subject of  monkeys the last couple of post it reminded me of the monkey cake I decorated for my youngest grandson's first birthday...the same grandson in this post with the monkey hat on. He is definitely our little monkey and this cake fit his personality so well. I just made a round cake and then cupcakes for the ears.

Sock Monkey Coffee Cozy

I was so happy with how the Sock Monkey Hats turned out that I decided to make this Sock Monkey Coffee Cozy when I found this free pattern from Inner Hooker on Ravelry.  The only thing I would do different on my next one is to join each of the rounds. This pattern is done in the round so when you change colors they don't line up the way I would like. I didn't think to do that until I had finished the monkey. The other thing I did different was to crochet the smile for his mouth like I did for the monkey hats. It turned out nicer than my stitching one would have. I know this because I did it that way first and then took it out. I also added a second eye only cuz I'm weird like that and wanted to have two. Enjoy! Thanks Inner Hooker. You do lovely work!

Sock Monkey Hat

I made a couple of these monkey hats for a couple young people going through chemo. I hope it brightens their day. The only difference between the two monkeys are their eyes. Not sure which I like better. Liz at crochetincolor so generously shared her pattern for free. It's one of the nicest ones I've seen. Thank you, Liz. I sure appreciate it!

Of course I had to get a picture with my "little monkey" trying the hat on for size before I sent them off.

Another Angry Bird!

Here is another angry bird hat I made. I followed the same directions for the red angry bird pattern from Amy but changed the color (duh, obviously!) and the tuft of hair on the top. I made it pretty close to the same but narrowed it and made a third tuft. My oldest grandson, Brandon, got this hat. Thank you again, Amy!

Angry bird hat

I have also been making hats for cancer patients. I not only wanted hats that they could sleep in that would be soft and help keep their heads warm but also hats to wear out in public to keep warm so I try to make a wide variety of styles and a wide variety of sizes. That is probably what I've made the most often and what you'll see the most of on this blog.  I usually take the hats to our local cancer place but there are other good sites out there if you want to donate there. Of course, sometimes my grandkids spot some they really like so I make one or two for them as well.

An angry bird with an angry bird hat! lol!

I got the pattern for this fun hat from Amy at this site here. She has a lot of cute patterns you might want to check out. Thank you Amy!. My grandson loved it too. I made it for the one in the top photo but all 3 of the boys had to try it on. I also have made a couple of them for cancer patients.

Shoes for Amélie

I love these shoes! I knew I had to have the pattern for them when I saw them. Sylvia does a great job explaining how to crochet these. Check out her Etsy shop for the pattern.

I goofed on one spot but didn't realize it until I was all done but I'm not telling where!

For my granddaughter, Amélie

Okay, so I was going to try to start posting pictures in order of the things I've been crocheting but I figured if I wait to do that I will never get anything posted on this blog. Guess it doesn't really matter when I made them I just need to get them on here with the pattern sources in case anyone is interested. So here goes...my first post...

I don't buy a lot of patterns but Vita at monpetitviolon comes up with the most beautiful patterns and well, sometimes I just can't resist. I have bought several of hers. Check out her etsy shop and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.
